Gardening is as good for the mind as meditating, plus all the exercise we get from it as a bonus.
In so many wonderful ways embracing gardening is a fun therapy because just being around plants and admiring and appreciating their beauty can improve our mood, making us feel more at peace, more at ease, and content.
When feeling mentally exhausted and in need of a good break, gardening will be the perfect activity to get engaged with, assisting us to relax and restore our tired soul.
We do not need to have a big outdoor space full of plants to be able to enjoy the benefits of gardening...to enjoy that special connection that gardeners have with their plants. If we do, that is terrific. If not any space will do!
If not having an outdoor garden we can create inside our home our very unique and beautiful "plant heaven", our gorgeous plant-filled oasis that will be as pleasing to the mind as the one outside.
Plants, in the context of a home, are such a nice and easy way to enhance the space we are in. The space we create, and what the space gives us in return, has a big influence on how we feel, has a big determination in our state of mind. What surrounds us gives us sustenance.
Plant care is something that provides a daily sense of nourishment and grounding. Once that you get one or two plants in your environment you start discovering their magical beauty and presence and you want more...and that is exciting.
Here a few pictures from my garden:
I am an avid gardener and thoroughly pursue this activity. For me gardening is more than a hobby, it is more like a ritual. When I am outside working in my yard I am completely immersed in the experience and totally focus on what I am doing. I forget troubles...gardening cleanses my spirit and when I finish working
I feel renewed, calm, and serene.
When we open our homes to plants our living space is transformed becoming more welcoming, intimate, and fun. Plants are such a vital part of a happy and healthy home, healthy environment.
When into plants, something very therapeutic also is learning how to propagate the plants we already have, allowing us to divide and multiply our favorite ones, and seeing how interesting and beautiful that process is.
The pandemic brought shock and very challenging moments in 2020 -and still does, but 2020 was also the year that my garden bloomed more than ever, where everything in it was thriving and flourishing in such a beautiful way like I have not seen before. It felt like nature wanted to compensate for all the worries that have been affecting my mind....and I am so grateful for that.
