Welcome to the first issue of Omaira’s Newsletter!
This is actually Lenny writing you right now because I want to make it as easy as possible on my mother-in-law to try this out. The way this will work is she’s going to send me her thoughts over email and I’ll send them out here. Fun random experiments FTW!
If you have no idea what is going on here, Omaira is my mother-in-law, and she’s been sharing her take on my newsletter ever since I started sending it out. I’ve been sharing these takeaways on Twitter, and dozens of readers have asked me to ask Omaira about starting her own newsletter. Well, I asked her, and she agreed. So here we go!
Fears
When Lenny started his Newsletter he gave me a gift subscription and after reading each one of his posts I sent him an email with my comments.
Lenny very kindly told me that he enjoys reading my messages and he has been trying to persuade me to write like a companion to his Newsletters with my thoughts about any topic I choose.
I have been reluctant to his idea because it makes me wonder if I am going to make a fool of myself, if what I write is not going to be good enough for people to care to read it, etc....you know that fear we have about starting something new, that fear we get when we are moving just a little from our comfort zone.
Well, I decided to go for it in spite of all my fears. So what a great subject for starting: FEARS.
Fears are a part of our existence even if we do not like to experience them...they are a part of our survival mode. But how we deal with them will make an enormous difference in how we experience life. If fear plays a dominant role in our lives it forecloses the potentials we also have available to explore and use effectively to grow and evolve.
We do not need to be the fear we have. We do not have to rule from a place of fear because it will make the ground fertile for the fears to multiply.
We all have places of fear inside us, but we also have other places as well that will help us to be better, to be confident, to be at peace, to be strong. Places where trust, hope and faith will support us to move forward -and we can choose to lead from them.
Fears are the ones that make us guard so intensely our comfort zone. As we think we are safe we are also not evolving or growing, or using all the opportunities available to us. We are sabotaging our minds and limiting ourselves in a big way.
For people with amazing ideas about starting a new business, a new venture, the fear of failure cripples them so badly creating a feeling of doom even before starting. The mind is filled with overwhelming thoughts about everything that can go wrong, that there is no room for ideas that can help and convince you that your ideas are worth exploring or experimenting.
Overcoming that fear and starting no matter what will be a remarkable thing to do. The fact that you took a chance and made a decision to go ahead and concentrated all your efforts on that idea set your mind in a different direction, in a winning mode... and your new attitude will be your new best and biggest ally.
Even if things do not go as planned the first time, you know now that you have the power and force in your mind that will make you try again until you get it done. You know now more about how to tap into your strengths instead of letting fears rule your life. Now you can be open to new possibilities feeling confident that you are capable. Now you know that with your courage, efforts and passion you can create what you want.
Omaira
When I wrote Lenny is a great sun-in-law I did not make a mistake. He is a sun for Omaira and the family. He illuminates, enlightens and his warmth is wonderful. Good son,
Lenny is a great sun-in law. I enjoyed reading everything Omaira wrote. Good thinking. Congrats.
